Scripture: Philippians 1:3; Hebrews 13:7
Devotional: One day, your boots are gonna stop walkin’ this earth. But your life? It’ll still speak. The question is--what will it say? Will your wife or husband look back and thank God for your love and leadership? Will your kids say you pointed them to Jesus with your words and your walk? Will your neighbors remember you as someone who brought peace, not trouble? You’re buildin’ a living memorial every day. And like any good project, it needs care, intention, and faith. We honor the fallen on Memorial Day, and we oughta honor the Lord by how we live every day. Your legacy ain’t about money or fame—it’s about faithfulness. When folks remember you, let them remember someone who was sittin’ tall in the saddle—firm in the Word, strong in faith, and full of good works. Cowboy Challenge: Write a letter to your kids, spouse, or a young believer, sharing what you hope they remember most about your life. Then live every day with that legacy in mind.

Scripture: Luke 22:19; Romans 6:3–4
Devotional: We’re a forgetful bunch. That’s why God gave us reminders like the Lord’s Supper and baptism. Not so we could go through the motions, but so we’d remember what really matters. The bread and cup? They remind us that Jesus gave His body and poured out His blood so we could be forgiven. Baptism? It’s a picture of death, burial, and resurrection—the ultimate reset for a sinner made clean. Memorials aren’t just for the past—they’re for the present too. Every time we come to the table or witness a baptism, we’re reminded that we’re part of a much bigger story. One with sacrifice, redemption, and hope. So take the time to remember. Don’t let what Jesus did become routine. Let it stir your heart again. Let it change how you live. Cowboy Challenge: Find a quiet place and reflect on the cross. Write out what the Lord’s Supper means to you. If you’ve never been baptized, talk to your pastor about takin’ that next step. If you have, share your baptism story with someone who needs encouragement. Scripture: Ephesians 2:8–10; Titus 3:8
Devotional: Let’s set the record straight—good works won’t save your soul. Salvation is by grace through faith, period. But once you're saved, God’s got work for you to do. Your life ought to be a testimony, a work of art that shows the world what Jesus can do with a willing heart. We are His workmanship, Paul says. That means God’s workin’ on you, in you, and through you. And the result? Good works. Not to earn heaven, but because you’ve already been given it. It’s like a cowboy that’s proud of his ranch—he keeps it in good shape, not to prove it’s his, but because it is. Whether it’s teachin’ a class, prayin’ for someone, cookin’ for a neighbor, or lendin’ a hand—every little thing you do in Jesus’ name builds a monument of faith. A life of service is a life that leaves a legacy. When you’re gone, folks won’t remember your paycheck—they’ll remember your prayer life, your kindness, and your obedience. Cowboy Challenge: Think of someone in your church or neighborhood who could use a little help or encouragement. Do one thing today—big or small—that shows the love of Jesus in action Scripture: Matthew 16:15–18; John 6:29
Devotional: Ever seen a barn without a frame? Didn’t think so. Even the strongest foundation won’t hold up a structure if there ain’t no framework to support it. And in the life of a believer, faith in Jesus Christ is that framework. Jesus asked His disciples, “Who do you say that I am?” That question is still echoing through time, and it lands square on you and me today. Your answer changes everything. Faith in Jesus as the Christ, the Son of the Living God—that’s the framework that shapes a life worth rememberin’. Religion, good works, and church membership are all fine, but they won’t hold up your soul. Only Jesus can do that. Faith in Him is what brings salvation. Not just knowin' about Him, but trustin’ in Him. Believin’ He died and rose again to give you life, and buildin’ your life around that truth. That kind of faith don’t just sit quiet—it changes the way you talk, the way you treat folks, and the way you handle hardship. It builds a life that points to Jesus long after you’re gone. Cowboy Challenge: Answer the question Jesus asked: “Who do you say I am?” Write your answer down. If you’ve never fully trusted Jesus as Savior, don’t wait another day—make today the day you say “Yes” to Him. If you already have, share your story with someone this week. Scripture: 2 Timothy 2:15; Matthew 7:24–27
Devotional: Every cowboy knows the importance of a solid foundation—whether you're buildin' a fence, a barn, or a life. You can’t expect a place to stand strong when the storms roll in if it’s sittin’ on sand. Jesus made that clear: the wise man builds his house on the rock. And in our lives, that rock is the Word of God. God’s Word ain’t just a Sunday sermon or a dusty book on the shelf—it’s a living, powerful guide meant to shape every part of who we are. When life gets messy—and it will—you need something unshakable to hold onto. That’s why Scripture matters. It shows us how to live right, love deep, and walk straight. It’ll teach you how to raise your kids, treat your neighbor, and walk through the darkest valleys without losin’ your way. If your life’s gonna be a memorial to something, let it be to a life rooted deep in God’s Word. The Bible ain’t just information—it’s transformation. Don’t just read it, live it. That’s how you sit tall in the saddle of remembrance. Cowboy Challenge: Pick one chapter in the Bible this week—maybe 2 Timothy, since that’s where this whole message starts. Read a few verses a day and underline what sticks out. Then live one of those truths out in a practical way today. https://youtube.com/live/jrDjVRixxsI?feature=share
Scripture: Matthew 28:19-20, Luke 10:2, 1 Corinthians 3:6
You ain’t gotta cross oceans to start evangelizing. You’ve got a neighbor. A cousin. A buddy at work. That’s your first mission field. Jesus said the harvest is ready—just short on cowhands. The Great Commission don’t wait for perfect timing or perfect people. It calls on regular folks with a love for the lost and a heart that says, “Send me.” “Go therefore and make disciples…” (Matt. 28:19) Cowboy Challenge: Write down three people you can pray for and reach out to this week. Start the conversation. Plant the seed. Let God grow it. Your Mission, Should You Choose to Accept It: Be the worker in the harvest field. Start right here. Right now. Scripture: 1 Peter 3:15, Romans 9:2-3, 2 Timothy 1:7
Most folks don’t evangelize because fear’s sitting beside them in the saddle. Fear of rejection. Fear of not knowing the answer. Fear of looking foolish. But here’s the truth—God didn’t give us a spirit of fear. He gave us boldness wrapped in love and truth. Paul was willing to be cut off from Christ if it meant others would be saved. That’s some serious burden. When you really love people, fear takes a backseat. You start caring more about their soul than your pride. “Always be ready to give an answer... with gentleness and respect.” (1 Peter 3:15) Cowboy Challenge: Think of one person you’ve been scared to talk to about Jesus. Pray for courage. Then go for it—gently, respectfully, but boldly. Your Mission, Should You Choose to Accept It: Don’t let fear do the talking. The Gospel’s too important to stay silent. Scripture: Matthew 7:28, Mark 12:37, Luke 15:7
Scripture: Matthew 15:32, Luke 6:18, James 2:15-17
You ever try preachin’ to a man with an empty belly or a busted heart? Doesn’t matter how good your sermon is—he won’t hear it till you help him stand up. Jesus didn’t just walk into town spoutin’ Scripture. He healed the sick, fed the hungry, and met folks right where they were. That’s how He earned the right to speak truth—they knew He cared. “I feel compassion for these people,” He said (Matt. 15:32). That compassion led to action. James didn’t sugarcoat it either. If you say you’ve got faith but don’t lift a finger when someone’s in need, that kind of faith is as dead as last winter’s fencepost (James 2:17). Real evangelism don’t just talk—it serves. Cowboy Challenge: Find one need today and meet it. Might be groceries, a kind word, or just listening. Show Jesus with your boots before your Bible. Your Mission, Should You Choose to Accept It: Help first. Preach second. Let your actions open the gate for the Gospel. |
