Breaking Bread and Sharing More Than Beans

Scripture Focus: Acts 1:13; Luke 10:41-42
"Martha, Martha, you are worried and bothered about so many things; but only one thing is necessary, for Mary has chosen the good part, which shall not be taken away from her."

Cowboy Wisdom:
Out on the range, cowboys gather around the campfire not just to eat, but to share the load. They swap stories, mend each other's torn gear, and keep watch while the others sleep. Nobody survives the trail alone. A cowboy who isolates himself from the outfit becomes easy prey—for the elements, for rustlers, for his own dark thoughts when the night stretches long.

I've known cowboys who thought they were tough enough to ride solo. Pride told them they didn't need the rest of the crew. But when their horse went lame fifty miles from anywhere, or when they got themselves turned around in a dust storm, they learned real quick that stubborn independence ain't strength—it's foolishness.

The same goes for waiting on God. When you're stuck in a holding pattern and you don't know why, that's when the enemy whispers that you're alone, that nobody understands, that you might as well give up. That's exactly when you need to pull up a chair at the campfire with fellow believers. Let them remind you of God's faithfulness. Let them pray when your words run dry. Let them keep you from wandering off into trouble while you're waiting for the trail boss to give the signal.

When you're waiting on God, don't isolate yourself in the bunkhouse—gather with fellow riders who'll keep you steady in the saddle.

Reflection:
Waiting is toughest when you're driven and goal-oriented. The disciples gathered together in fellowship while they waited. Are you surrounding yourself with believers who will encourage you, or are you trying to wait alone?

Daily Challenge:
Reach out to a fellow believer today. Share what you're waiting on God for, and ask them to walk through this season with you. Don't let waiting become isolation.

Prayer Focus:
Father, thank You for the gift of fellowship. Help me not to stray while I'm waiting. Surround me with believers who will point me back to You when I get frustrated or discouraged.

Hitching Post: a fixed and often elaborate standard to which a horse or team can be fastened to prevent straying.
