Scripture Focus:
2 Corinthians 5:14-17 - "For the love of Christ controls us... Therefore if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creature." Cowboy Wisdom: There's a difference between a hired hand and a cowboy who's part of the family. The hired hand works for wages, but the family cowboy works out of love and loyalty. When you truly understand how much the Boss loves you—enough to send His Son to die for you—it changes everything about how you approach your work. Paul said the love of Christ controlled him. That's like saying it was the driving force behind everything he did. When you've been transformed by that kind of love, you can't help but want others to experience it too. It's like finding the sweetest water hole in the desert—you're going to tell every thirsty rider you meet about it. I once worked for a rancher who treated his hands like family. He didn't just pay us wages; he cared about our wellbeing, helped us through tough times, and made sure we had everything we needed. That kind of love changed how I worked. I wasn't just punching a time clock—I was laboring for someone who truly cared about me. That's the difference Christ's love makes in our lives. Being "in Christ" means you're not just cleaned up—you're completely changed. Like a wild mustang that's been broken and trained becomes a reliable mount, when Christ gets hold of your life, you become a new creature with a new purpose. The old ways of thinking and living are gone, and new desires take their place. It's like the transformation of a caterpillar into a butterfly—it's not just an improvement, it's a complete metamorphosis. You don't just get better behavior; you get a new nature. Where once you lived for yourself, now you live for the One who died and rose again for you. This transformation should be evident to everyone around you. Your priorities change, your speech changes, your treatment of others changes. People should be able to see that something significant has happened in your life. If claiming to be "in Christ" hasn't produced visible change, then perhaps the transformation hasn't really occurred. The power that raised Christ from the dead is the same power that changes us. It's not about trying harder to be good—it's about allowing His love to transform us from the inside out. Questions for Reflection:
Prayer Focus: Father, thank You for the incredible love You've shown me through Jesus. Let that love control my actions and motivate me to share Your Gospel with others. Help me see people the way You see them—as souls for whom Christ died. Transform me daily into the likeness of Your Son. Amen.
