Day 4: Signed, Sealed, and Delivered

Scripture: Joshua 24:15 - "Choose for yourselves today whom you will serve... we will serve the Lord."

Cowboy Wisdom: When a cowboy gives his word, it's as good as a signed contract. Out on the range, your word is your bond. If you tell someone you'll meet them at the water hole at sundown, you better be there. If you promise to help with the roundup, you show up ready to work. A cowboy's commitment ain't just words - it's a way of life.

Joshua didn't just say "we might serve the Lord" or "we'll try to serve the Lord." He said "we WILL serve the Lord." That's commitment talk. That's cowboy talk. He wasn't making a suggestion to his family - he was making a declaration.

Too many fathers today are wishy-washy about their faith. They'll serve God when it's convenient, when it don't interfere with their plans, when it feels good. But real commitment means serving God whether you feel like it or not, whether it's easy or hard, whether it's popular or not.

Questions for Reflection:
  1. Is your commitment to God something your family can count on, or does it change based on circumstances?
  2. What areas of your spiritual life need more consistency and commitment?
  3. How can you demonstrate to your family that serving God is a non-negotiable priority?

Prayer Focus:
God, help me be a man of my word. When I say I'm going to serve You, help me follow through. Give me the strength to be consistent in my faith, not just when it's easy but especially when it's hard. Help my family see that my commitment to You is rock-solid, something they can always depend on. Make me a man whose word means something. Amen.
