One Ranger, One Riot

Scripture Focus: Acts 2:5-11, 14-21 "But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be My witnesses both in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and even to the remotest part of the earth."

Cowboy Wisdom:
The famous Texas Ranger story goes: "You only got one riot, don't you?" One Ranger was all it took because he had the authority and power to handle the situation. He didn't need a whole company of men—he had the badge, the training, and the grit to face down whatever came his way.

When the Holy Spirit fills you, you're never outnumbered. Those disciples faced a crowd of thousands, languages they'd never spoken, and a hostile religious establishment that had just crucified their leader. By all human calculations, they should've stayed hidden in that upper room. But with the Spirit's power, they turned the world upside down.

God doesn't need large numbers—He needs willing vessels filled with His power. Captain Jack Hayes and his Rangers were outnumbered four to one by Comanches, but they had new Colt revolvers and the determination to stand their ground. They won that battle not because of their numbers, but because they had superior firepower. Friend, when you've got the Holy Spirit, you've got all the firepower you need. Those Rangers could've looked at those odds and turned tail, but they knew what they were packing.

In the same way, when you're filled with the Spirit, you don't have to back down from the enemy. You've got heaven's authority backing you up. The world may throw everything it's got at you, but greater is He that's in you than he that's in the world. One person plus the Holy Spirit is always a majority.

• Do you ever feel outnumbered or inadequate for what God's calling you to do?
• How does knowing the Holy Spirit is with you change your perspective on challenges?
• Where is God calling you to be His witness, even if it feels intimidating?

Daily Challenge:
Step out in faith today in one situation where you feel outnumbered or inadequate. Trust that the Holy Spirit's power in you is greater than any opposition you face. Share the Gospel or your testimony with at least one person.

Prayer Focus:
Father, help me remember that with Your Spirit in me, I'm never outnumbered. Give me boldness to face the "riots" in my life, knowing that Your power is sufficient. Make me a fearless witness for Your Kingdom.
