The Way, Not A Way
Scripture:
Acts 9:2: and asked for letters from him to the synagogues at Damascus, so that if he found any belonging to the Way, both men and women, he might bring them bound to Jerusalem.
John 14:6: Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father but through Me.
Cowboy Wisdom:
Notice that Christianity isn't called a religion in this passage—it's called "the Way." That's because following Jesus isn't about checking off religious boxes or following a set of rules. It's about walking a path with the Living God.
Jesus said He is the way, the truth, and the life. Not a way, but the way. Like a narrow trail through dangerous canyon country, there's only one path that leads home safely. Saul learned that all his religious devotion as a Pharisee couldn't compare to knowing Jesus as the Way.
“You can have the best map, the finest gear, and all the trail knowledge in the world, but if you're on the wrong path, you're still lost. Better to follow the Guide who knows the way home."
Questions for Reflection:
Are you treating your faith more like a religion to be practiced or a relationship to be lived?
What's the difference between knowing about the Way and walking in the Way?
Where in your life are you trying to find your own path instead of following Jesus?
Prayer Focus:
Thank Jesus for being your Way, your Truth, and your Life. Ask Him to help you walk closely with Him each day, not just know about Him from a distance.
