Conscious of God’s Presence

Scripture Reading: Acts 7:55-56

Cowboy Wisdom:

"The horizon may look far off, but Heaven's closer than the next heartbeat. God's not distant—He's right here, watching over His own."

As Stephen stood facing death, he was fully conscious that Heaven was at hand. God pulled back the curtain and allowed him to see the glory of God and Jesus standing at the right hand of God.

How far away is Heaven? Don't think distance—think dimension. Like a cowboy who can see the ranch house from the far pasture, Heaven isn't on the other side of the universe; it's just beyond the veil. God can pull back that curtain anytime He chooses.

These verses remind us that God is close and that God cares. He wasn't too busy to pay attention to what was going on in Stephen's life, and He isn't too busy for us. God is always there when one of His children faces a crisis. In Stephen's moment of greatest trouble, God gave him the greatest testimony—a glimpse into Heaven itself.

Questions for Reflection:

  1. Do I live with an awareness of God's nearness, or do I think of Him as distant and far away?

  2. How does knowing that God is never too busy for me change my perspective on my current struggles?

  3. What would change in my daily life if I truly believed Heaven was just a dimension away?

Prayer Focus:

Thank God for His constant presence and care. Ask Him to increase your awareness of His nearness and to help you live with an eternal perspective.
