Full of Faith and the Spirit

Scripture Reading: Acts 6:3-5

Cowboy Wisdom:

"You can't rope what you won't chase, and you can't receive what you won't ask for. God's gifts are free, but your hands have to be open to receive them."

Stephen wasn't born with extraordinary faith and wisdom—these qualities came from God alone. Just like a cowboy can't lasso the wind or brand a cloud, we can't manufacture spiritual power on our own. It's a gift from the Almighty, freely given to those who ask.

The early church chose Stephen because he was "full of faith and of the Holy Spirit." His name means "crown," and he wore it well—not as a badge of personal achievement, but as evidence of God's work in his life. The Christian faith isn't about working up something on your own; it's about letting Jesus live through you.

Too many folks talk about dying for the Lord, but God isn't looking for folks willing to die for Him—He's looking for folks willing to live for Him. After all, how can you be willing to die for Him if you aren't even willing to live for Him?

Questions for Reflection:

  1. Am I living in a way that allows Jesus to live through me, or am I trying to manufacture spiritual growth on my own?

  2. What qualities of the Spirit do I need to ask God for today—wisdom, faith, power, or grace?

  3. Am I more focused on being willing to die for Christ or actually living for Him each day?

Prayer Focus:

Ask God to fill you with His Holy Spirit and wisdom. Pray for the grace and power that only He can provide, and commit to living fully for Him today.
