Taking a Stand for Truth
Scripture Reading: Acts 7:51-53
Cowboy Wisdom:
"A fence post that bends with every wind ain't much good for holding up wire. Stand firm on what's true, and God will hold you steady."
Stephen called out the religious leaders who rejected Christ, taking a strong, uncompromising stand for Jesus. Like a cowboy who plants his boots in the stirrups when the bronc starts bucking, Stephen stood firm on the truth—no matter the cost.
Now, compromise can be good when it's just a matter of opinion or personal taste. But some things can't be compromised. We can't compromise the truth. We can't compromise our faith. Two plus two will never equal five, and Jesus Christ will always be Lord.
Stephen wasn't standing alone that day. The Lord stood with him, and He'll stand with us too. God will give us all the courage we need. The question is: will we ask Him for it?
Questions for Reflection:
Are there areas where I've been tempted to compromise my faith to avoid conflict or criticism?
Do I have the courage to speak the truth about Jesus, even when it's uncomfortable?
How can I better rely on God's strength rather than my own when taking a stand for Christ?
Prayer Focus:
Pray for courage to stand uncompromisingly for Jesus Christ. Ask God to help you speak truth with boldness and love, trusting that He stands with you.
